Corps of Drums Society

Newsletter March 2011

We have not held a Music Meeting for some time.
This is owing to the fact that we do not have a venue at
present , the facility at Firepower Museum having been
disposed of for residential use.  At the last two meetings
Chairman Peter Nightingale explained the problem to
members and asked them to help us come up with a
suitable place.  Several members said they knew of
somewhere, but these leads have not materialised.  Peter
Nightingale has tried, amongst other things, a letting
company, but as costs would have been between £400 and
£700 a meeting, this was not a feasible proposition.  We
are still without a venue and would welcome credible
options or solutions from members. We have scheduled a
Music Meeting for Sat 21 May, and would like this to go
ahead somewhere, as we have lost several opportunities
for meetings, with the bad weather at the end of 2010 and
lack of a venue after that.
