Newsletter June 2013

This Newsletter contains details of our next Music Meeting and a reminder to individual  members and Corps Leaders to supply information required for the Lord Mayor’s Show.  This is now urgent.

Music Meeting Saturday 27 July 2013

This will take place at our excellent new venue, the TA Centre, Surbiton Road, Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey KT1 2NB.  Please make every effort to attend this.  The Centre lies at the junction of Surbiton Road and Portsmouth Road, and there are external car parks on both adjoining sides.  Entrance is via a security gate in Surbiton Road.  Nearest Rail stations are Kingston and Surbiton.  The Centre is 15 minutes walk from each.  If arriving by car, approach from the A3 and head for Kingston.  The meeting will begin at 1030 hrs.   Tea and coffee will be available.  There are shops and other amenities in the area.

Newsletter December 2012

2012 has seen us move to an excellent new location for our meetings.  A big thankyou to Society member Tom Packer for arranging for us to use West London Free School.  Details of our 2013 meetings there are set out below. Very best wishes for a Happy Christmas to you all and we look forward to seeing you at the meetings in 2013.

Meeting commenced 1830 hrs

In Attendance:  P Nightingale (chairman),  P Hart,  P Foss,           G Fairfax,  C Fairfax

P Nightingale commenced by reading out his submission (attachment 1) regarding : Lewes and the ensuing correspondence, Cadet liaison, and the evolution of the Society.  Geoff Fairfax’s reply (attachment 2)was considered, and discussion followed.  P Nightingale was concerned about the ongoing verbal attacks from individuals on the above matters.  P Foss pointed out that they were individuals and not relevant from the perspective of the Society.  G Fairfax stated that the remarks made in correspondence targeted at the Chairman had been dogmatic and incorrect (eg “no bell lyres in Corps of Drums”). …
