Bass Drummer Wanted for a Pipe Band in Essex
Essex Caledonian Pipe Band are currently searching for a new Bass Drummer. Based in Chelmsford, Essex, it is a Grade 4 competition band, taking part in several contests a year (with regular wins and top 3 finishes), as well as the usual mix of carnivals, parades and other public and private engagements.
Although bagpipes are a world away from fifes and bugles, it is still a marching and display band, and many of the drummers are ex-corps of drums players. With around 20-25 members, they’re an easygoing bunch, and are always keen to welcome new members, from experienced players to interested beginners.
Practice takes place every Tuesday night at the Chelmer Valley High School in Chelmsford, although members are spread across the county.
Every year we get a professional photographer to make a pictorial record of the Society’s participation in the Lord Mayor’s Show. For the 2015 LMS we have just published our biggest gallery ever!
If you were on the parade you should be able to find a photo of yourself somewhere. There are many aspects to be proud of and a few faults to be checked for the 2016 parade.

We are trying to create a digital archive of the back issues of Drummer’s Call.
For now we have scanned the cover sheets of the first few editions and given them their own page here.
Thanks go to Society member John Ridgeway for giving up his collection to save us having to work with our precious archive copies.
We hope you enjoy it.
